My work is a documentation of feeling, those emotional responses to experiences. For example, if you climb a mountain and are moved by its majesty, solitude or power, you might bring home all of those feelings. Memories of rippling rivers, patterns in the sand or striking events are the raw materials that I take back to the studio and use to build my images.
The medium of paper is my primary material. Making the colored pulps from a variety of cellulose fibers, I push and pour, layer, spray and hammer the wet pulps into patterns and forms to achieve my concept.
For the past 40 years or so, my work has been exhibited nationally as well as internationally, and is in numerous private and public collections.
