Recent Events:  Open Studios 2021

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped in to visit over the 2021 open studios weekends.  My husband and I had a wonderful time meeting all of you.  We enjoyed discussing my art, your art,  sharing our life experiences and - of course - the stories about the pet loves of our lives!  We hope the experience was mutual and welcome hearing your feedback.  It will help us better meet our visitors needs during future events.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or comments and I promise not to bug you with marketing emails!  To keep up with what's happening in my art world, I will keep this page updated with photos of new art and any art events I am participating in.  My in house IT  Dept { my husband Cliff :) } continues to build our future website, and that information will be updated here when ready.

Thanks again everyone, for making our first Open Studios a truly wonderful experience!

Artist statement:

My favorite subjects are animal portraits, local Santa Cruz scenes and architecture, figures and landscapes. I often depict atypical perspectives in my paintings to give the viewer a different experience of the subject matter.

The first part of my process is matching a subject to the media that best expresses what inspired me to paint it. Sometimes spending as much time building my painting foundation as with the actual painting process :)

I use photo references mostly, but do some plein air and life drawing too. In doing commission work, I will request several photos and discuss size, color schemes, and what the client most wants to have portrayed about the subject. When possible, I also like to take my own photos for filling in compositional needs of the final painting.

Prints and cards of my work can be seen and purchased at the Art of Santa Cruz Gallery in the Capitola mall. Not all of the available art is currently pictured on their website (at the website, go to "shop collections", "home decor" to find my items). I will keep an up to date group photo or two in the images on the right side of this page (including standard size format info.). If you have questions about a piece pictured on the Visual Arts Network page that is not available from the Art of Santa Cruz Gallery, please reach out to me and I will be happy to assist in anyway I can.

Appointments for a phone call, video call, or a studio visit can be made to view prints, an original work, discuss an alternative print size, your commission idea, or to have the art put onto another item – clothing, throw pillow, cup, mousepad, etc., as desired. Please email or call me to schedule a time. I look forward to meeting you!
