Artist Statement
As a ceramic artist growing up on the west coast, the ocean and landscape played a role in images to work with. Patterns in the sand and rock formations led to wall pieces with a variety of clays. Vessels reflecting nature led me to do Raku and Sagger firing with gas firing methods. Currently I am caught up with the animal world including dogs who are now our support friends. Most pieces begin with a drawing/sketch to capture the flavor before drawing on the clay and adding texture. Copper iridescence / crackle glazes and smoke are useful tools when combined with texture. I like to make things that make me happy.
