Some people say they walk the path laid out before them, I am not one of them. I forge my own way through the world; I chase butterflies, get lost, and create new paths. I struggle to understand the world, and the world struggles to understand who I am. From a young age, I have had trouble verbally communicating with others, so I did it physically through sports. Soccer, baseball, basketball, even dance are all ways that I tried to tell the world who I was, but I failed because through these actions I could not find myself. I started to find myself through poetry, but I struggled to find the words that could describe my physical presence, not to mention my spirituality. Poetry is beautiful but it lacks physical presence and gets lost between languages. I needed a medium with a physical presence, one that touched everyone, everywhere. Light, the only known constant in the Universe, traveling 299,792,458 meters per second, light reaches everywhere, and touches everyone; and it is the medium I use to connect with the universe. Painting with light finally gave me a voice the world could hear. Today I use photography to communicate with others and to help people find themselves.
