While I have worked with a variety of mediums, what truly captivates me is integrating printmaking, painting and photography with unorthodox processes. I create monotypes without a traditional press, using a brayer or pinpress, and layer with paint and/or images from my digital, instant or pinhole cameras. Sometimes it’s hard to tell where the monoprint ends and the photograph begins, where the traditional ends and contemporary begins.
Acrylic paint and mark making tools are often added in as well. While I love the immediacy and availability of photography, I need the texture and physicality of rolling the ink, mixing paint, and scraping, and sanding layers to reveal what is underneath. I am constantly amazed with the unending possibilities with these mediums and the surprises and mystery they reveal.
